Twice the size of a standard franchise, Party City's new megastore in McHenry is brimming with aisles and aisles of party supplies organized by season, color, theme, etc. Featured are departments like "Favor City," "Candy City," and "Sports City" specialized areas big enough to operate as independent stores. A printing center lets you create personalized invitations, signs, and banners on a computer monitor, proof them, and have them printed in short order.
Founded in 1986 by Steve Mandell, Party City was purchsed by Amscan Holdings in 2005. The company still adheres to the principle of "more party for less," offering a category-killer inventory of theme party supplies year round and thousands of Halloween costumes and accessories during the peak October season.
